I got attracted to a man who is my work colleague. We have exchanged a few private words but nothing too personal. I fear seeing him trying to avoid eye contact with me the next time I try to give him a friendly hello. Given that he's a male co-worker, I don't want to somehow be construed as rushing him in some way. I know some men are sensitive to feeling like they're being hit on at work.
If I manage to have another conversation in a few weeks, it's going to be trickier to come up with things to talk about. I feel like I should start it by joking or playfully teasing him in some way. I considered asking for the date without the excuse but wanted to make it seem less out of the blue, like I had a reason to go up there.
I would not worry about him thinking that you are an annoying woman because you've been forcing contacts with him. You've actually showed interest and proposed spending more time together.
Sure there were some awkward moments leading up to it but nothing that happened could have been thought of as inappropriate.
All your actions so far has been honorable and above board so do not loose any further sleep over it.
If you really want to make sure that she does not think of you badly then you can always write him an e-mail saying something along the lines of:
"Dear
Bottom line: You can politely make an apology for being pushy, for example: I'm really sorry if I have distracted you in any way. Please tell me what I can do to make amends if any.
